Welcome!
Growing up surrounded by generations of quilters and seamstresses (my great great grandmother was a milliner and sold her hats in London, England.) some beautiful quilts and pieces of tatting were handed down to me. I even received two quilt tops, that my great grandmother pieced but did not live long enough to quilt. When she was quite elderly and a widow, she wrote in her journal, “I am very thankful for the desire I have for doing and making things, for I know it keeps me from spending many hours that would otherwise be very long and lonely.”
My name is Rhonda. As a career, I was a Special Education teacher and then a Library Media teacher. For many years my thoughts, efforts and time went into that profession. With Covid-19 arriving in 2020, I made the difficult decision to “hang up my hat”.
Now I find myself going back to revisit subjects that interested me while I was growing up. One of these that is quite sentimental, is quilting and embroidery. I have also dreamed of having a small business, hence I opened this little shop.
So, here is my little spot to share my latest sewing projects and little creations. I hope you can find an idea or two you might want to read about or try to make. Some of the vintage fabrics listed in my shop are out of print and hard to find. Vintage embroidery patterns that I especially love are also listed.
It is quite a mystery as to what one remembers vividly. My Grandma Duffin teaching me how to start a Crazy Quilt, is still very clear in my mind. I must have been about 12. It is a happy memory and I find myself wanting to pick up sewing again and again to make something lovely.
English Paper Piecing (EPP), applique and, embroidery are my favorites.
What do you find yourself drawn to?
